I like pencil for both writing and drawing, as long as it's non-computer. Never liked pens much. Or, I'm most used to and comfortable with pencil. Using a pen would probably be a little nerve-wracking, with it's absolutes and unforgivingness. I've been using a twist-erase mechanical pencil for... probably over ten years now. Got a little attached to that pencil, I guess. I like the large, refillable eraser. But I also bought a pack of wooden pencils awhile ago that has okay erasers.
