It's a new year, and what better way for me to kick things off than by offering a storytelling mentorship? What's that, you ask? It's where I pick a willing participant as my Guinea pig student/mentee and teach them all about storytelling.

This is a one-on-one scenario that I typically facilitate through Skype IMing that lasts about a month or so. I start by asking you a bunch of questions about your current project and/or writing experience to determine where you're at and what you already know about storytelling. Then I provide you with resources, instructions, and assignments to help you improve.

Interested? You may be the ideal candidate if:

- You're someone who's interested in writing fiction in the form of short stories, novels, serial fiction, graphic novels, or screenplays. (I do everything but poetry.)

- You have a current writing project you need help with or you want to develop a new idea--and you actually want to improve your storytelling abilities and aren't just looking for a beta reader.

- You have an open mind and are eager to listen, learn, share ideas, experiment and try new things, research, read, rewrite, edit, work hard, etc. It's not gonna work if you're just looking for validation.

- You have free time in the evenings and/or weekends that correlate with EST.

- Bonus points if you love sci-fi, urban fantasy, steampunk, cyberpunk (or any punk sub-genre), magic realism, and other awesome subject matter!

Just to clarify, I'm a terrible beta reader and am not interested in beta reading your project. This is all about helping you develop a story, work through issues, and improve your overall storytelling skills. Obviously, I will read outlines, notes, character sheets, and things like that. Also, I'm not looking for any return favors and won't ask you to read or critique any of my writing.

If this is something you're interested in and you think you're down for the challenge, send me a note! Let me know why you'd like to be my Guinea pig/apprentice and what you'd like to get out of a mentorship (just be blatantly honest). You may also provide a BRIEF description of your current writing abilities and project(s).

Not interested but know someone who might be? Send them on over!
I will reply to all notes, but I can only work with one person at a time right now. And if we jive ...

I can't wait!
